Hi and welcome to the forum. Maybe you can give a few more details. Did the family come to the USA or somewhere else? If so about what year? About what year were Antonio and Francesca married and can you give approximate birth years of their sons.

I've posted a possible 1900 US census

Hi, I don't have any direct info for you, but I have relatives who currently live in Laureana di Borello (Insarda' family). I just thought I would add that in case that name is in your family tree.

http://www.laureanaborrello.it/

This is not the official page for the town, but there are some nice pictures. It is in Reggio Calabria and somewhat inland, as opposed to a beach town.

And this is a neat thing, there is a message board on that site (in Italian): http://www.laureanaborrello.it/messaggi.htm

Here is the address for the town hall. If you want to request records, you must do it in Italian. There are form letters on www.circolocalabrese.org (under reference):
Laureana di Borrello City Hall
Address: Piazza Indipendenza - 89023 Laureana di Borrello - ITALY
Phone Number: (+39) 0966-906103; Fax: (+39) 0966-991461
Mayor: Rocco Domenico Ceravolo

I've been checking US records and nothing seems to fit for the son that may have come to USA.

There are microfilmed records for Laureana di Borrello for birth, death and marriages covering the years 1809-1910. You should be able to find the 4 boys birth acts, marriage of their parents and parents siblings etc. from the films. Here is the link.

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... ato+civile++

Find a Family History Center (FHC) near you and go in to order the films you would like to view. Cost is about $5.00 USD and takes about 2 to 4 weeks to receive.

I'm sorry I can't be more help to you. Maybe one of the other members on the forum that has a paid subscription or international subscription to ancestry can jump in and give you some help with the Australian sailing records.

Post back if you have questions.

Hi there,
I was very excited to see your post. My grandmother is a Ciccone. Her name is Martha Eve and she was born to Marie Vito and Alfredo Ciccone in 1926 in Oakland, Ca. I havent been able to trace Alfredo back very far because he left my great grandmother after their 3rd child was born and they lost contact with him, until he turned up many many years later. He was wondering around and he had Alzheimers. My grandmother took him in and he lived with her until he died in late 1980's. It would be very interesting to see if we were related somehow. Marie and Alfredo were married in New York I believe. I have found quite a few people on Ancestry.com that might be him. He spent alot of time in Virginia, Conneticut ect when he was younger. I will look at some of the censuses I found and see if I can connect your Ciccone to mine.

No..he was a very interesting caracter. I am searching my family tree and have run into a dead end on that branch when I get to him. So it would be interesting to know if we link up somehow here. He left my Great Grandmother with three children and skipped town, my Noni was very young and doesnt know much about him...but I will ask her to see what she does know and get back to you. I do know she said he was a Chef and owned a resturant in Virginia for awhile. I'll re post when I talk to her.

I do know in my family my GG Grandfather was Di Vito and it was changed to Vito. I dont know if they did it on purpose or the people doing the paperwork just wrote it down wrong. I cant get over the fact there are Ciccones in Australia, I had no idea people migrated to other countries in the early 1900's other thatn USA. That shows how new I am to this whole family tree thing :D
