Bartilucci from Accettura

Postby denisemadison » 13 Apr 2008, 18:25

My grandfather Angelo was born in NYC in 1896 but returned several times to his family home in Accentura when a child. I am trying to find his parents names. Believe his father could have been Vito and his mother Mary, but not sure. Saw a Vito and Anna who came over in 1893 at age 36, and was accompanied by Anna, age 10. I know Angelo had a brother Anthony who passed in 1950. Any clue on how I can find out parents and siblings of my grandfather?

Hi Denise,

Here is the actual spelling for your grandfathers comune......

Accettura, province: Matera - region: Basilicata

LDS has films for Accettura, you should be able to find the marriage, births etc. for his family.

Find a Family History Center (FHC), go in and order the films you'd like to view. Takes about 4 weeks to receive the films and cost is about $5.00 USD per film

Hope this helps.

Since he was born in NYC, you can send to the Vital Statistics office and they will send a copy of the birth certificate. There is a sample form on stevemorse.org I did check the database but it was only for births in Queens..& another borough. I send for several documents in NYC and received them in about 10 days. Good Luck.

PS That database showed an Anna Bartilucci that died in 1917 in NYC.
