Italian Death Registration Question

Postby daddymuzza » 26 May 2008, 13:02

If someone died on board a ship on its way to Italy would the death have to be registered with Italian authorities at the port of arrival or could family register at destination ie home village.
I am trying to find death certs of ancestors born in Scotland but who may have died in Italy in the 1920's
if yer no fast yer last !!!

It depends by the ship: the territory on which the death will be recorded is the same of the ship. If the ship was Italian it will be recorded in Italy, if the ship was English it will be recorded in England....
Is the commandant of the ship who register the death and give documents to his authorities.
