casale

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

I have started the proccess of searching for my wifes family history. Anyone with information on the casale surname in lessolo italy I would greatly like to correspond. My wifes grandfather Emilio Casale (1907) was born and raised there until 1921. at that time he lost his mother (name unknown) and was placed on a ship to canada to be with his father Antonio casale born 1873 in lessolo piedmont italy.
