DUCA DI GENOVA

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

If you go to the www.ellisisland.org website and look up their arrival in the USA you can examine the entire ships manifest by clicking on your family Egidio Pasquale Gervinoname and then in the upper left is the legend for the ships manifest which you can view by enlarging the manfiest. Please get back to me with any questions you may have. Peter
