I hope my translation requests are not a burden, I feel bad asking for all these translations. Corresponding with these relatives is a dream come true and I don't know where else to turn. Thank you, I hope you know how grateful I am. Laura
I am very excited to hear from you! Thank you for writing such a nice letter to me so quickly, and for including Pierina’s letter and the newspaper article. I cannot write Italian, and I am using a translator. Do you understand English, or do you know anyone who does?
My grandmother, Helen, is alive at nearly 92 years old. She, my Aunt Ellen, and everyone else, are all thrilled to hear from you. They have told me about the boxes of clothes they sent. We do not know why Pierina lost touch with the relatives, we assume there was an argument, but we do not know what happened. It does not matter, the past is history, we are just happy to be in touch with you.
Mauro, son of Enea, has written to me, and has explained how we are related. He wrote in English, and I e-mailed him in English. Another nice man has sent marriage and birth certificates of relatives, and brochures on Candelo. What a great surprise.
Attached is a picture of some family members. My Aunt Ellen and my Grandma Helen are sitting on the sofa. My father, Walter, is standing and wearing eyeglasses. He is standing next to my mother. My grandfather, Julius Fischetti, also wearing eyeglasses, died 3 years ago. My Uncle Henry is the brother of Walter and Aunt Ellen, and he is wearing a hat. The other man is my Uncle Alex, married to Aunt Ellen. My Aunt Ellen divorced Dennis over 20 years ago. She now has 3 children with Uncle Alex.
I have a younger sister, Connie, and a younger brother, Tom. The letter that Pierina wrote announces Tom’s birth. I was born in 1968. All of my family lives in New Jersey, except for me. My husband and I do not have children.
Are you or your sister married? Do you have any children? Have you ever visited America?
My husband and I plan to hike in Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, in September. If we do, we may visit Candelo. I have always wanted to see Candelo, and I would especially enjoy meeting you and Maria Rosa. I am going to learn some Italian.
I look forward to corresponding with you.
