Handwriting Help Please

Post by Cetta »

I found a manifest that has my grandfather's oldest brother Tomaso coming into the US.

I can't read the first name of who he is staying with. The first letter of the name looks like either a Y or a J because it also appears in column 17 as the place where he has stayed before. I think it's a Y for NY because I don't know that anybody had made it to NJ at that time.

The 2nd letter looks like either a q or g because it hangs down below the line. But what kind of a first name would that be??

The last name is Squicciarrini which is a name I remember from my childhood.

Can anybody decipher that first name? It's on Line #7

Thanks,
Cetta

Ignazio seems to be the best candidate.

Thanks. Yeah I guess so...or even Ignazia.........although the last 4 letter look a lot like "cker".

What's so odd is that the writer didn't dot the 2nd i in Ignazio but looks like he took great pains to dot all the i's in Squicciarrini.
