I am looking for information on the family of origin for my g-g-g-mother, Antonina Favazza probably born in the 1830s in Terrasini, Sicily.
Antonina was first married to Giuseppe Palazzolo (probably about 1856), widowed and then married to Antonino Favaloro (probably about 1860). Her grand-dtr Antonia by her son Serafino married Giuseppe Favazza. I'm particularly interested in finding out if those two Favazza families are connected. I have quite a bit on the Favazzas going back to the mid 1700s (see Favazza link below), but not all the details on siblings.
Here's what I have on Antonina:
Antonina's son Gaspare Palazolla (only child by Giuseppe Palazzolo) was born on 29 June 1857 in Terrasini, Sicily. He married three times and had many children. He died in Gloucester, MA.
Antonina's son Capt. Serafino Favaloro (first child by Antonino Favaloro) was born on 12 March 1861, in Favarotta Sicily. He married and had seven children. He died in Gloucester, MA.
Antonina's daughter Rosalia Favaloro (second child by Antonino Favaloro) was born on 26 April 1875. She married and had eleven children. She died in Gloucester, MA.
Antonina's daughter Anna Favaloro (third child by Antonino Favaloro) was born in ? 1870. She married and had seven children. She died in Gloucester, MA.

I'm looking for information on the Favazza family. All we really know is Joseph Anthony Favazza (my husband's grandfather) came into this country in 1903 as a 6 month old through Gloucester, MA. I think he was from Terrasini, Sicily. My father-in-law, now deceased, said his father came from a fishing village on the northern coast of Sicily near Palermo. Any information you could give me would be fantastic.

Hi Arlene,
I have dozens of Joseph/Giuseppe Favazza in my file, all from Terrasini. I'm sure I can help you. But we need a little more information.

- Go to Ellis Island http://www.ellisisland.org/ and find the original record of his 1903 arrival. Get the names of who he was traveling with, who he was going to, and who was left behind.
Contact the town where he died for the death record. That usually has parents names listed, albeit usually misspelled.
You might also try naturalization records, if he became a citizen.
