Birth & Marriage Record Translation (Italian to English)

Post by Prosdo »

I have to thank you guys for the help on translating my letter to be sent to Italy. I sent it about 2 weeks ago and I have received my great grandmother's birth record and her marriage record to my great grandfather. Unfortunately, I cannot read Italian lol. Is there anyway someone could translate the two for me please. I will be forever grateful. Here they are:

Marriage Part 1:

Marriage Part 2:

Birth Part 1:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/P ... scita1.png

Birth Part 2:

Also why is there a written note about Guiseppe on the side? Was that written by whoever copied these for me? Thank you!

Marriage part 2

This states that also present were the witnesses:
Vinicenzo Trocomo, 36, shoemaker, and
Nicola Lamanna (this may be the bride's last name as well), 50, tanner,
both residing in this town.
Then it tells that they showed the documents that the banns were published in town first on the 25 of January, and second on the 1st of Feb.

The writing on the left side is the stamp of the official of the town that you have received an official copy.

The bride's name is clearer on the birth record and reads as "Mariangiola"

Birth record 1

Birth Act #8
On 10 Feb, 1888, at 8:30 AM, in Fossato (not Forrato), appeared before the town administrator, Paolo Olivo, 56, residing in Maranise (sp?) to say that at 10:15 PM on the 9th of February at the house in Maranise, to Concetta Lamanna, his legitimate wife, was born a female baby who they named - Mariangiola Malia Apollonia Olivo.

At the left is a notation that Mariangiola was married on 8 February 1914 to Giuseppe Prosdocimo in Fossato.

birth record page 2

This is VERY light and hard to read, but it only identifies the witnesses:
Domenico Capoluogi (sp?), 58, citizen
Domenico Fratto, 33, (can't read the occupation)

I am requesting birth records for my GGF from Catanzaro now. I used the translator. Does this right to those of you who speak Italian?

24 settembre 2010

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Catanzaro
88100 CATANZARO CZ
ITALY

-------------
Egregi Signori,

Mi chiamo Stephanie Prosdocimo, ed abito negli Stati Uniti all'indirizzo sopradetto.

Distinti saluti,
---------------

Is it better to list the actual birth date or do they only need the year? Thanks.

I know his birthday is March 6, 1878 , but I'm not sure how to write that in. That was a standard form letter.
