Hi Jim :-)

Date is 1888 on 27 September

Graziano Aniello, 29, farmer is the groom. He is the son of deceased Stefano; and Antonia Luppari (that what it looks like to me at first look)

Angelarosa Iannotta, 44, is the bride. Daughter of deceased Lucantonio and deceased Caterina Papale.

Witness is Gaetano Trecentese, 71.

Everyone is from SMCV, and "sudetto" just means "as said".

I also am reading Aniello's age as 29, Jim.

Hi T.
Please forgive me, but the reason I asked for the surname is that both documents cause me to think that Graziano is the surname. Am I misinterpreting these documents? :?
Please help.

Thank you,

Jim

No, I think that is a good observation. One way to decide is to look at documents that occur around the same time (the pattern of recording for the time period) and see is the name is usually last, first or first, last.

In this case, you are quite right...the pattern is last - first (for the groom and the bride). So the groom is Aniello Graziano..

I'm sorry if I confused you

Certainly Graziano is most widespread today as a surname than Aniello.
