Help with translation with 2 back of picture cards.

Post by FrancineNJ »

Thank you very much for your help.
These were from my grandfather. According to Naturalization papers he was from Southern Italy. We always believe it was Calabria.

Ciao FrancineNJ,

The salutation is from Domenica, a female. I am having trouble reading some of the script but I believe it reads:

Goodbye and kisses to my nephews (nieces or both). A kiss to your wife and to you I give you a hug.

Your sister,
Domenica

Although I would wait for a more experienced translator for confirmation.

FrancineNJ,

Sorry, I forgot a period. The last sentence should read:

A kiss to your wife and to you. I give you a hug.

Your sister,
Domenica

Thank you very much.

Too bad there's not a forum to post pictures in case someone can say I know who those people are!
That post card has a picture of an older woman with a younger woman with a baby on her lap and 2 kids. Guess their her kids and her mother.

Can you make out the writing to the right. I assume that would be the address it was going to?

It is not an address but from what I can read:

"Goodbye and kisses to your dear nephews (nieces or both)."

The word nipote is difficult to translate without context, but based on the context of the note I am assuming nephews or nieces. It can also translate to grandchildren.

Why not upload the picture to imageshack or one of the other free sites and then show the link here. Maybe someone here will recognize them.
