If someone could help with the translations of two birth certificates from Italy, I would appreciate it very much. The handwriting may be difficult to read, but I'll do my best to reproduce them as clearly as possible in the form of links.
We're hoping this information is the key to many of our ancestry questions, so it is very important to our family.
The quality of the first image is very poor.
On 28 August 1880 at 6PM bfore the mayor, Francesco Felice, at the town hall of (Rosano? - Hard to read), appeared Giuseppe Giuliani, 26, countryman, living in Rosano/Onano?, to declare that at 3 PM on the 27th of August at 12 Via laPorta Nuova (sp?), from his union with a woman not his wife, and not a relative, ___(can't read...but no mother is named here)_________, was born a boy baby who has been named Giovanni Salvatore. Then there is a statement that the witnesses gave testimony to this birth.
The witnesses are:
Giuseppe Comminari (sp?), 47, clerk
Ignazio Morelli, 27, shoemaker
I can't read the writing on the right accurately because it is terribly blurry.
EDITED: Took another look at right side with larger image. This is a notation of the marriage of Giuseppe to Marianna Sabatini (sp?) on 14 May 1884. This was the baby's mother. The rest of the notation seems to be details of the registration of the birth indicating her as mother. Still hard to read. T.
The second document is clearer, and the town looks like Onano.
Here is a link to the town. Interestingly, the present mayor of the town is named Giovanni Giuliani.
The second document...
Birth of Annunziata Giuliani at 2AM on 9 October 1888 at the house at 18 Via S. Giovanni, to Giuseppe Giuliani, 33, farmer, and his wife who lives with him, Marianna Sabatini, 26, daughter of deceased Gaspare.
On the first document the father is named...Giuseppe Giuliani...as stated, but not mother named in the nati...then the mother is named on the notation to the right when she married the father. Her name is as stated above...Marianna Sabatini.
On the second document the same parents are named, Giuseppe Giuliani and Marianna Sabatini.
The only "grandparent" named is Marianna's father Gaspare Sabatini.
edited: There may be more information in the notation at the bottom of Giovanni's birth record, but the image is cut off, and the copy is fuzzy. Can you rescan to bring the bottom writing up more clearly?
First image is blurry and hard to read, and someone else here at the forum may be able to better translate it for you, but here's what I think I see...
Giuliani Giovanni, son of Giovanni (probably should be Giuseppe) of Onano, married Isolina (sp?) Forrentini (sp?) of XXXX, on August XX, 1907. Following the law the banns were announced on several days in August 1907 (looks like the 1st, 4th, and 6th)
As for the second image (the notation on Giovanni's brith record). It states that with the marriage celebrated between Giuseppe Giuliani and Marianna Sabatini on 4 May 1884, they can now amend the register of the birth of Giovanni Giuliani in 1880.
I think the notation was made on 20 August 1884.
