I would appreciate any help translating the following. I tried to crop the pictures so that they are easier to read but I realize they are still grainy.
Thank you in advance!!!

translation of marriage and birth records
Re: translation of marriage and birth records
Hi K8landers
The right side of your great grandparents marriage record is the record of the publication of the banns on 6 September, 13 September, and 17 September.
Can't read the bottom of the record...really too small and blurry

Re: translation of marriage and birth records
Thanks for trying. When I open them on my computer I openi it with with windows picture viewer and it was clearer, but I don't think i can save it that way.. I know that in the birth record it states that Maria Corsi went in front of the mayor to raise him (Felice Zampini) but that's all I have. I was hoping that the bottom of the marriage record would have more...
I appreciate your efforts!

Re: translation of marriage and birth records
According to the information that I have, Teresa was 19 or 20 when she married -would she have still been considered a minor at this time? I guess so since she needed the permission of the council?
Where would Teresa have lived when her parents were deceased at this this age? I haven't searched the morte records yet to see what years they passed. Would she have lived on her own in the family home if she didn't have any siblings?
Would the tribunal minutes be something found in allegati records?
Thank you very much for helping! This is so interesting!

Re: translation of marriage and birth records
Yes, if Teresa was 19 or 20 when she married, she would still have been considered a minor or not of adult age and would have needed parental consent to marry. The purpose of the convening of the family council was to deliberate the merits and shortcomings of the prospective spouse, as well as to have family members, or sometimes even close family friends, if no family members were alive, to give their consent to the marriage. If the minor was a female, things like whether she had an appropriate dowry would also be considered. Also considered was whether or not the prospective spouse was of good moral character. I have always found such records as part of the marriage packages-either called processetti or allegati (the latter in some of my Sicilian towns).
Re: translation of marriage and birth records
Thank you! Now I will order the allegati records...
Re: translation of marriage and birth records
what year is the marriage?
Re: translation of marriage and birth records
You town does not have processetti for the year of the marriage record, so hopefully you will finding the family council record in with the allegati records. Good luck.
Re: translation of marriage and birth records
They were married in 1903 in Capestrano.
Felice Zampino was born in Bussi Nov of 1876.
Teresa was born in Capestrano in 1884 (this year coincides with the age at marriage. I have only located a Teresa born to the same parents in 1880 - I will be looking at the files again this week)
Thank you!
