Return address on old envelope from Italy?

Post by mdvukas »

I have an old envelpe that has the following return address:

Sisto Pilotti
03010 Patrica F.R.
Italy

I found that Patrica is a municipality in the Province of Frosinone what I not sure about is the "Sisto Pilotti" I wondering if it says Sister Pilotti?

Also would like to know the significance of the number "03010".

Is this a legitimate return address?

the problem in the address , it are no street... and the province is "FR" and not "F.R."; Sisto is a first name... actually it are only 1 Pilotti in Patrica

03010 is the "CAP Code", similar to a ZIP code.

In Italy, the CAP code is shown before the city name and province code, hence: "03010 Patrica FR"

As Raffaelle points out, "Sisto Pilotti" appears to be the writer's first and last name. With a population that rarely exceeded 3,000 persons ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrica ), the writer must not have felt the need to specify his street address.

The Italian white pages list a single entry for Pilotti in Patrica, a transport business: http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... trica&ind=

postalcode before town-name is usual in all Europe not only in Italy.
in present days also usual before the postalcode the code for the country, so it would be now I - 03010 Patrica.
postalcodes on italian map (first 2 numbers):
