Could someone help me translate this marriage record?

Post by lorinigro »

On Ancestry.com I was able to find the birth record of my great great grandmother Maria Grazia Rizzo (#259). Unfortunately, I cannot understand the writing. I have uploaded the image on photobucket, but if it's too small to read, it is also located on Ancestry.com (records from Potenza>Laurenzana>Atti di Nascita>1869>107).

Welcome to the forum :-)

This record is very, very difficult to read even when enlarged several times. The writing is blurry...

However, the notation at the right says that on 20 November 1902 she married Pxxxx D'Alessandro.

Do you know of a way to make it bigger on photobucket? On ancestry.com I am able to blow it up to 200%, but on photobucket I'm not sure how to get it to show larger.

I actually just saved it and opened it in the picture viewer on my computer which allowed me to enlarge it quite a bit. It is very blurry :-(

I tried accessing it on Ancestry, but I don't have the world membership.

I'm sure someone here on the forum will pull it up and take a look. Several members have World Edition of Ancestry. :-)

Thanks Tessa!

Is there anyone around who has a World Membership on Ancestry who could access this record and translate it?

Tessa,

I uploaded using image shack. Let me know if this is easier to enlarge and read.

Hello again!

This is a much better image and easier to read. However it is only the first page. The birth act continues on the next page.

For this page ...
Birth Act # 259
Maria Grazia Rizzo daughter of Rocco and of Maria Carmella di Persia.

Kingdom of Italy
Province of Basilicata District of Potenza
Comune of Laurenzano

5 October 1869 at 10:30 AM at the town hall before the Official of the Vital Records appeared Maria Teresa Martania, daughter of deceased Giovanni, age 50 and a midwife to declare that in the presence of Domenico diPersia, son of deceased Pasquale, age 40, peasant farmer, residing in this town on Via Corso de Popolo; and Erico Pelletieri, son of Leonardo, age 50, peasant farmer residing this town and living on the Via above stated, was born a female child on 4 October at 2 AM in the house on Via Corso de Popolo...

That's all that is here...need the rest :-)

continues...
daughter of Rocco Rizzo, son of deceased Giovanni, age 37, peasant farmer, and of Maria Carmela di Persia, his wife, daughter of Giovanni, age 37, peasant farmer, and that they declare the child's name Maria Grazia Rizzo.
According to the law and in the presence of the above said witnesses I sign.....
signed by the Officer of the Vital Records
Egidio Ztio

BTW...
The marriage notation is easier to read now.
She married Rocco D'Alessandro on 20 November 1902.
Below that is the date it was recorded 14-2-1903 (14 February 1903) Potenza. Then signature of the official/clerk.
