Letter from Comune di Parma

Postby Cbontemps1 » 07 Oct 2010, 01:39

I believe this may be my grandfathers adoption paper. Can anyone translate it? I know a couple of the words. His name was Andrea Cordelli born December 8, 1890 (at least that is what is on his passport and immigration papers)

Thanks you so much,
Cathy

This looks to be a record of his birth...

An extract of the registration of births for 1891
No. 209 Andrea Cordelli

The Act is dated 9 December 1891 before the official at 3 in the afternoon.
It then identifies the official Giovanni Barcatrelli (sp?) and the details of his appointment, etc.

Second section...
Economato dell'Ospizio degli Esposti - is the Bursar's Office of the Homes of the Foundlings

On 8 December at 5:30 PM Palmira Camorra, a midwife, presented a masculine baby whose parents are unknown, who was born on the 8th at 7 AM. With him were One piece of cloth, one band/sash, one small jacket or wrap, and one cap/bonnet.

The child was given the last name of Cordelli and the first name of Andrea. Registration # 36273.
Dated 9 December 1891

The notation at the bottom is dated 11 September 1914, Parma.
Not sure of the full translation, but can see "Copy on plain paper"

I'm sure others here will take a look and correct/add to the above :-)
