Help with Marriage Record

Post by DJP1812 »

I have a marriage record that I am trying to validate if it is my Great Grandparents. It is in script and I can not make out some of the names. Can anyone help?

I can't seem to figure out the occupation name and all Mother & Father names.

Thanks!!!

groom's father: the name looks like Sethemo, but there is no such name, as far as I know. Possibly derived from the Italian word settimo which means seventh

Mother's name is Maria A. Giosue

Bride's father is Simone
Mother is Anna Laudando

Bear in mind that NYC vital record certificates often have misspellings of names. All but possibly the groom's father's name appear to be accurate Italian spellings though.

Looking at the occupation, sorry, I don't have it solved, but I thought about: stabler, which was also called ostler or hostler = one who takes care of horses
However, the first letter as it's written on the document doesn't seem to fit.

I also thought about jailer, since this registrar didn't alway dot the i, but that word didn't seem to fit either (neither did the alternate spelling gaoler).

Thank you so much everyone!

I am trying to validate that this document is actually my great grandparents and I believe that last bit just did it!

I know my great grandfather Frank 'Rey' was a watchmaker (jeweler).
