I don't think what you are seeing is "quattro." I think it is "giorno." :-)

At first I thought it read "il giorno quattro", but I do think it's "il primo giorno"... I guess you could make a case either way... :-)

Any idea what the dates were on the records before and after this one?

This was scanned at FHC this morning. How I wish it was on Ancestry. :)

Worst case, I will be off by 3 days (not a direct ancestor).

If you look at th writing of "qualche" (5 lines down) and other "q" words in the text, I think your first impression was correct. i think it is "giorno quattro"
