My great-grandfather's USA birth record does not have his first name (only surname) and his surname is spelled incorrectly. His correct family name is: Perona, but the birth record says: Parunai
I know it is the correct document because it gives the right birth date and his parent's names are the same.
What am I supposed to do with a document like this? Will the consulate accept this?
Also, is the birth record the same thing as birth certificate?
Thanks!

In a case like this, everything depends upon the state which issued the record and the consulate you will be applying at.
