They checked the civil registry for your relative Matiello Nicola Antonio birth 1856-1859 and didnot find anything on him. This answer also applies to the Municipality of Mirabello whose territory, until 1959, was included in the area of Sant'Agostino. It is also pointed out that our civil registers start in 1866 so to research before that you have to go to the parishes of Mirabello or Sant'Agostino for those years.

Thank you so much, Marty. Do you think this means that if I want birth records for him I have to check with the churches, because his birth was before 1966?

If your looking for the town of Mirabello Sannitico there are civil records from Family History Library films Registri dello stato civile di Mirabello Sannitico (Campobasso), 1809-1910 birth/nati death/morti and matrimoni so instead of sending a letter why dont you get the films from FHL
