The record has lost much of it's ink... so these are my best guesses :-)

It looks like the child was named FRANCESCA CARUSO - (looks like bambina)

Date of record looks like 28 December 1860

Father looks like Giovanni of deceased Antonio??

Mother looks like Carmela Pel???? of deceased Giacomo

Can't read the date of the birth, but it was at 4 PM :?

Thank you Tessa, You are right, She is definitely Francesca and definitely female!

I enlarged and printed the record out over 4 pages, which made it a little easier to read. I think the father is Rosario Caruso, and mother is Angela Farrugia which fits with the other info I have, and confirms she is the sister of my G Grandfather!

I think the record was written on 24 Marzo 1878, but do you think the birth date is the "vent'uno del coriente mese" or even venti due?

I have been trying to read this over and over, and even asked my friends.....many eyes help!

Grazie Tessa!

:?: Patrizia, are you sure that you are reading the same record that Tessa is reading? :?:
Te record posted above http://s19.postimage.org/9h88dc837/Birt ... o_1844.jpg was definitely written in the year 1860 (milleootocentosessanta) or maybe 1870 (milleottocentosettanta) day 28 month ???. Also the mother is Carmela Pel???? of deceased Giacomo (sua moglie Carmela Pel??? fu Giacomo)...

.....che confusione! Scusi!

Sorry everyone for the confusion,I uploaded the correct image, but then saved a different image to my PC....which I was looking at!:-(

I have checked and re-checked. I have been looking at a different image all together, but I believe of a birth of the same parents, Giovanni Caruso and Carmela Pi(lanno)? to another daughter also called Francesca but on the 1st of June 1875.

I would still like to know what the birth record I uploaded says, and think it is 1870?....

I must admit the repetition of the same names through the generation is confusing, and I am now printing and dating all the images so far, and organising things a little better.

How can I make this easier? Does anyone use a software programme other than the on-line ancestry trees? Is there any benefit to one on PC, rather than on-line?

I believe it is much easier to manage a Genealogy DB on PC rather than on-line. There are many software available, the one that I use is Legacy by Millennia Corporation, the standard Edition is free and can be downloaded at http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/

Grazie Livio,

I will have a look. Can you upload a GEDcom file, (from Ancestry)?
