I try, but I have two problems: first, to understand what some words actually mean in Italian (I did not serve in the Army), and second, to find the right words to translate into English…

Soldato di leva 1° categoria classe 1870 distretto Avellino quale mandato rivedibile per cardiopalmo della classe 1869 dal Consiglio di Leva e lasciato in congedo illimitato. (11 giugno 1890)
Conscript of the 1st category of class 1870 at Avellino district, as declared temporarily unfit by Conscription Council in class 1869 for cardiopalmo (heart palpitations), and left in temporary exoneration.
Chiamato alle armi. Giunto (8 gennaio 1891)
Called to Military Service, he went.
Tale nel V Reggimento Fanteria (24 gennaio 1891)
Assigned to 5th Infantry regiment.
Caporale in detto. (31 marzo 1892)
Corporal in such regiment.
Tale nel Distretto di Avellino ed inviato in licenza straordinaria in attesa del congedo illimitato Circolare n. 98 del 21 agosto 1892 (li 20 settembre 1892). Connessa dichiarazione di buona condotta
Such in Avellino District, and sent on extraordinary leave waiting for temporary exoneration, according to what established by Letter of Instructions #98 of August 21st, 1892. Issued declaration of good behavior.
Provvisto di congedo in patria ove trovavasi in licenza straordinaria in attesa del congedo (19 settembre 1893)
Granted temporary exoneration while he was at home on extraordinary leave, waiting for exoneration.
Chiamato alle armi per istruzione. Giunto (20 luglio 1895)
Called to Service for drilling, he went.
Mandato in congedo illimitato (9 agosto 1895)
Sent on temporary exoneration.
Tale effettivo al deposito del reggimento Napoli AU (31 marzo 1898)
Such, effective at Napoli AU regiment depot.
Tale nella milizia mobile di detto (19 giugno 1899)
Such, in the mobile troops of said regiment.
(Tale ?) Nella milizia territoriale del Distretto Avellino (19 giugno 1903)
(Such?) in the Territorial Troops of Avellino District

Sometimes the translation may be too “literal”, and we might need someone more expert of military matters.

Thank you Pippo! I really appreciate it.

So...Gennaro had heart palpitations.. he died in his mid 40's.. wonder if it was his heart. Also, now we know he served in the military.
Thanks again,
Jerry
