Italian Birth Certificate translation please.

Postby dmurphy1940 » 16 Apr 2012, 16:45

I have an Italian birth certificate, possibly (1902 or so) which would help me in my research tremendously if I could get it translated. (especially the correct spelling of all names) I have it in PDF format and could email it.

Unfortunately the certificate is cut off on the left and I cannot read the given name of the father.

Maria Marciana Montecalvo was born in Frigento 1902 Dec 21 at 2:20am to De...antonio Montecalvo, aged 23, farmer and to his wife Giovanna Ciampi farmer.
The birth was registered the same day at 8:00am

The given name should be Donatoantonio? Are the names of the godparents on there also? Does it say how old the mother is?

Yes it could be Donatantonio. No the mother's age isn't there.
Gemma Marciano and Pepino Pasquale are witnesses to the registration of the birth.

You are very kind, thank you.
Are witnesses generally family members?

No! It is very rare that they are family members.
