Help with Name on Atti Di Matrimonio

Postby JJM01930 » 20 Apr 2012, 16:23

Trying to figure out the names of my GGM's parents. I have the marriage certificate, and it looks like her father's name is Matteo Casale, and her mother's first name is Maria. Can anyone figure out Maria's last name. Also, what is the translation of the word just before each of their names? I've noticed this on a lot of documents. (Just after figlia di) I'm guessing it's an abbreviation for Signore and Signora, but would like to be sure. Haven't figured out how to insert the image, but have it saved as a jpeg if anyone is willing to help.

Grazie Tante

Giovanni

Agata's mother is Maria Sgueglia.
The words before the parents' names are "figia di fu" = "Daughter of the deceased". Both Agata's parents were deceased at the time of the marriage.

Thanks for the quick reply! I think this forum will be very helpful to my search. Also the "figlia di fu" is a great hint for figuring out timelines. Just checked and "Squeglia" was a popular name in Bellona!

The name on the document is Sgueglia with a "G" and is even more popular...
