Help with a first name

Postby sfarrar84 » 07 May 2012, 02:53

I am new to this forum and not sure if this is the right place to ask this. I recently found my grandmother's baptism certificate. It lists her first name as Gistamina. Nobody knew for certain her actual first name as she was known as Jane. I tried to Google "Gistamina" and only found results for a antihistamine. Is this an actual Italian first name? Could it have been something else and incorrectly written as Gistamina? Any info would be great.

Welcome to the Forum!
It does appear to be misspelled, my best guesses would be Giustina (Giusta) or Gelsomina

Is the certificate typewritten? And if it isn't, can you upload the image?
