Translation help, multiple documents

Postby Jen C. » 13 May 2012, 23:39

Hi there,

With the help of a few others on a different thread (Thanks Valerie, Marty, and T!), I have been able to gain access to multiple records from the Caltanissetta, Sicily records via Ancestry.com. There are multiple records that I have tried to translate, but I don't speak/read/write in Italian and have failed terribly at trying to do so. It would be amazing if anyone on here could help me to figure out what these say. I decided not to ask for translation help on the previous thread, because the people that have helped me have done an inordinate amount of work on helping me find these records and I want to be respectful of their time. If there is anyone else that might be able to help me, either with one sentence or an entire document-- I'd be ever so grateful. Thank you, Jen

These are the following documents that I would like some help with:

All pictures/document can be found at: http://s764.photobucket.com/albums/xx28 ... 20history/

I'm not sure why the entire picture of these documents didn't come through...it appears as if only half of the document is showing up. Please let me know if they are coming through. If not, the link at the top will go to my album with only these 13 documents.

Thank you,
Jen

Could you please give us the Ancestry coordinates for the Cordaro & Bruno Marriage Publication. The images posted here are too small!

Thank you Livio! There wasn't any other location information or church information listed in there was there? I'll be going to Sicily in June and I'd like to figure out which church they belonged to or what streets my family lived on so I can find whichever church is closest. It looks like the two streets listed were Via S. Giovanni and Via Maddelena. Would that be all thats mentioned?

Thank you so much for the translation! This brings me back an additional generation.

I'm looking for Giovanna Lomonaco's (my great grandmother) sister...I know she moved to Argentina around the same time my great-grandmother came to the US. Does anyone know how I could go about looking up her birth record without knowing her name?

Thats great, thank you! I would never have thought of accomplishing that through looking for parents names. So then, what about to find out about immigration? I heard from someone that in Italy, people were required to be up to date on all taxes before they were allowed to leave the country. Do you have any idea what these tax forms are called or how one would go about looking them up? ...or how to find when and where people migrated to once they left Italy? For example, one of Giovanna's sisters went to Argentina...not sure who. Should I look to see if Argentina has immigration records or would Italy have records that people might file to leave? I would imagine she would have left out of Palermo, but does Palermo have ship boarding records, etc?
