Postby ponti46 » 27 May 2012, 23:29

I need help with the translation of these records. I think they're Birth Records?

These are Baptism records :-)

Giuseppe Andrea Antonio, son of Domenico Pinticella and Anna Allegra, married couple;
was baptized on 5 January 1801

Fortunata Antonia Rafaela, daughter of Domenico Palumbo and Maria Giuseppa Calò, married couple; was baptized on the 27 June 1798

Thank you Tessa,

Did either one indicate the name of a church or town where they were baptized?

I’m looking for any clues to find their Birth Records.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.

It looks like S. Maria l'Avvocata di S. Domenico Soriano di Napoli

Thanks again Tessa,

This is starting to come together. There are family stories of evening walks in Piazza Dante which is in Avvocatta and the Church is there too.

I’ll try to find the address of the Church and send off a letter. However I do have another question. Since we know the dates of their Baptisms, can we assume that both were born within a few days of their Baptism?

Thank you so much for your help.

At this site, you can read the history of the church, and it mentions Piazza Dante! :-)
Luckily, the pastor's name is given AND he lists his email address :D

Yes, USUALLY a child was baptized within 3-5 days of birth...
