Antonio Cappadona Parapetto Death Record

Postby ItalianbellaSA » 31 May 2012, 21:13

I found a death record for an Antonio Cappadona Parapetto. I can see a Franceso Matufu listed in the record. Francesco is my great-great-great grandfather. Thanks in advance for any translation you can help me with. Why would there is a second surname for this person?

It is hoped that the research I am doing helps to discover, preserve and celebrate my family history.

ANTONINO Cappadona Parapetto
Death date: 10 may 1873
He was 44, and the husband of Mar???zza Carlo;
and the son of deceased Francesco, and of Carmela Drago.

Here is a short "explanation" about some second surnames... :-)
Alias Surnames
In some areas of Italy, a second surname may have been adopted in order to distinguish between different branches of the same family, especially when the families remained in the same town for generations. These alias surnames can often be found preceded by the word detto, vulgo, or dit.

And a link... ... me&f=false
