understanding words or codes under marital status

Postby segalla » 14 Jun 2012, 05:53

I received "Certificato Di Stato Famiglia Originario" (Status of the Family, Historical)documents from Chiuppano comune. Can anyone help with the words or codes in the column under "Stato Civile" (marital status), especially "VED". "CGT" appears to mean married. "Celibe" appears to apply to unmarried males, and "Nubile" to unmarried females. My grandparents had 18 siblings between them. (Researching Segalla, Zanandrea, D'Adam and Gioppo- from Chiuppano, Caltrano, Carre- Vicenza Province).

Hi,
better to post the document image to better see, however I believe that:
VED is for Vedovo/a = Widow/widowed
CGT for coniugato/a = married

Thank you Laura,
You appear to be absolutely correct. Widow fits perfectly with the other information. I don't why it didn't occur to me- My head must have been too full of excitment. It took me two years of perseverance with the ufficiale anagrafe, to finally obtain the records.
