Birth record

Postby tomtst » 14 Jun 2012, 13:06

This is the birth record of Giuseppe Antonio Bonetti. It lists his father Giuseppe son of Felice. Then it lists the mother Concetta Pico or Pica? I am not sure which it is. After her name it lists her deceased fathers name but I cannot read it.

I have 3 questions
Is it Pico or Pica? What is her fathers name?

And the part of the record not shown shows the babys name as "Giuseppe Antonio" is that the order it is read? Because he always went by Antonio.

Father of the child is GENEROSO, not Giuseppe :-) - Age 24, son of Felice.
Concetta's surname looks like PICO. She is age 25, and no father's name is mentioned. She is described as "sua legitima moglie" which means "his legitimate wife"

The chld's name would be Giuseppe Antonio (as you stated), but he could certainly have used Antonio if there were many others in town (because of naming traditions) with the name Giuseppe Bonetti :-)

Yes, Generoso I got confused to many of the same names. What is the word 2 lines below Concetta's name right under her age? I thought that might be a name.

Thank you
Tom

The word is "dichiarante" - declarant. It refers to the father who came to declare the birth. It is stating that the child was born to Concettta... and the declarant, of age as above ("come sopra"), profession "as above", etc.
