Reported: 9 AM 11 August 1898. Declared by Arcangelo (?) Esposito, age 30, farmer, living in Rotondi, AND Raffaele Esposito, age 60, farmer, living in Rotondi, that at 5 Pm yesterday (10 August 1898), at home at Via Zalorfi #3, died Luigi Crispino, age (?), living in Rotondi, born in Rotondi, son of Raffaele, farmer, living in Rotodi, and Teresa Cieri, farmer living in Rotondi.

Witnesses: Giuseppe Manitta, age 39, landowner AND Fillippo Lanni, age 35, profession of (?)

My understanding is that it was a "doorkeeper" - especially in a court of law, or municipal building...
Many of the witnesses on these records were just people who happen to be around the town hall at that moment, either working there or doing business there (like presenting a child, announcing a death, etc.)

Maybe someone else with contribute their thoughts :-D
