Help with a couple of words on birth record

Post by gemellua »

Can someone please tell me what the word is that appears after the name of
the first child listed on this record - Maria Di Nuovo? I cannot make it out.
Also, the word that appears as the occupation of the witness Innocenzo D'Andrea.
I've checked the resource list on Rootsweb/Ancestry, wasn't included.

Thank you.

In the margin after her name it says "di padre ignoto"-of unknown father

The occupation of the second witness was sagrestano or sexton-(an official of a church charged with taking care of the edifice and its contents, ringing the bell, etc., and sometimes with burying the dead).
