The record is dated Dec 20, 1866. Appearing before the town official was Salvatore D'Aveni, the son of deceased Giuseppe. He was age 38 and a day laborer. He was living in the town and was a resident there. He was the one who reported that a baby of masculine sex had been born on the 19th of the month, at 4 in the night, to his wife, Rosalia di Salvo, the daughter of Antonino. She was living with him in the house on Strada Badia where the infant was born. The infant was given the name Giuseppe.

The reporting of the birth, and the presentation of the infant at the town hall, was made in the presence of two witnesses. The first was Simone Caliri, age 48, a blacksmith, the son of deceased Giachino, and the other was Raimondi di Dio, the son of unknown parents, age 55, a day laborer in the town. Both were residents in the town.

Neither they, nor the informant, who was also illiterate, signed the act. It was read aloud by the town official.
