Salvatore Castronovo birth question???

Postby lilbees » 17 Apr 2013, 16:18

I have this birth record from 1868 for the above. I am confused about the margin notation. Is this a recognition of his birth? Any other details would be appreciated.

As you know from the birth act, the child was born on 27 October to Maria Castronovo, and father unknown; and was presented by the midwife on 29 October to the official.
The notation indicates that the child, Vincenzo, was remitted to the "Stabilimente di Trovatelli" [foundlings home] on 15 November. I think the number is the register #1349.
