Post by tomtst »

This is the death record of Bernardino Scalera. I am having trouble reading the date of his death.

tom,
the date of the record, as i read it, is 26 june 1867. however, that may not be the date of birth.

DOB is usually noted after father / declarant's name, professione, location, and before mother's name.

actual day of birth is given on the 8th line down of the second page which reads-

che alle ore sette di questo stesso giorno

"that at 7 o'clock of this same day"- (so it would be the day which Donna gave you)

Thank you, I didn't link the second page. I always used the date at the beginning of the document, I guess I will have to double check my dates.

The date at the beginning of the record is not necessarily the date of the event. You need to look in the body of the record to be sure of that date.
