Record of Marriage/Title Magestro

Postby ItalianbellaSA » 24 Jun 2013, 03:18

Hi: I found the marriage record of my mother's first cousin, Angela Santospirito to Salvatore Sorbera. I was able to translate most of it, however, the groom's mother's name is Magestro Contenta Antonina. What type of a title is Magestro? I have never seen that in all the research so far that I have done.

It is hoped that the research I am doing helps to discover, preserve and celebrate my family history.

Magistro Contenta or Contenta Magistro is a double surname in the town of Patti. Magistro is not a title in this instance. It actually can be currently found in the Italian white pages both ways.
