Witnesses: Giuseppe Muggeo (Muzzeo?), age 22, farmer and Pasquale Lamarca, age 22, both living in Corato.

Sergio Morella,age 19 born in Molfetta, workman living in Corato. son of deceased Nicolantonio, and Antonia Cipriani, living with her son. And Angela di Franza, age 22, born & living in Corato, daughter of the deceased Vitoantonio and the deceased Rosa Lotito.

this promise was posted on sunday the 9th of aug of the current year.

1. birth act of the groom in Molfetta - 2 Feb 1838
2. death act of his father in Corato 22 Jul 1854

First of all, I see that the surname keeps changing in spelling. In the marriage record above, it is clearly written as Marella. In the death record for Nicolantonio #251, I found that, in the (index for 1854 deaths-image 12- left column) it is written as Marano, and that's what it looks like in the actual death record.

#251-Dated July 22, 1854 death also on the 22nd

Nicolantonio Marano, age 44, day laborer, son of deceased Sergio and deceased Scelza Simone. He was the husband of Antonia Cipriani. Then it lists the surviving children's names: Sergio, age 17, Mauro, 11, Scelza, 7, Pantaleo, 3, and Cataldo, 9 months.

Thx Marty for the translation be Could it be Scelza de Simone ?? What about the name Thing Erudita does this further confirm it.

Yes it could be but the spelling looks different I look at the next line at the capital S it doesn't look the same and I don't see a z in the name

Thank I never had it easy when it cames to names in my tree Spellings are wrong etc makes it even harder to find them..

The name looks like Eccelsa de Simone. In the other record, it is Scelza Simone. The name appears to be derived from the Latin word excelsus which means high or lofty. I think they are just variations in spelling of the same name.
