Not sure if this is a Marriage Record

Postby dmurphy1940 » 08 Jul 2013, 18:25

It was hard for me to tell if this is a marriage record but I would like it translated. It is the last record on the page, right lower side.

This is a request (issued July 22nd, 1866) for banns for the marriage between:

Vitantonio Genna, 34 years not completed, farmer, born and residing in Frigento, son of Giuseppe and Vittoria Giovanniello, both peasants and deceased;
Mariantonia Famiglietti, 30 years completed, peasant, born and residing in Frigento since birth, son of Mariano, farmer, and of the deceased Arcangela Cocchiola.
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi

Thank you Pippo, are Maniantonia's parents listed in this record? It states "son of", so I am wondering who's parents these are. Thanks!!!

Pippo has already given you the names of the parents of both the groom and the bride, which appear in the record, so I don't understand your question.

You are right, Erudita, I was reading it wrong! But, Mariantonia is the DAUGHTER of Mariano, not son, as stated in the record...I was focusing on that probably....sorry. And can you explain what "completed" and "not completed" means after their "years"?
Grazie,

Dolores

Dolores
After "di anni trenta compiti," the next word is figlia, and not figlio, followed by the words, di Mariano. It is clearly the word figlia and not the word figlio. Look at the word figlio with the groom's information, and you will see the difference in how the final letter of the word is written.

As to "non compiti" vs. "compiti"-the groom had not yet had his 34th birthday, but the bride had had her 30th. So his age was "anni trentaquattro non compiti" but hers was "anni trenta compiti"

It was a mistake of mine...I copied and pasted, and forgot to correct "son" to daughter"!
