My greatuncle married Melania Maria Teresa Braghiroli in 1870 in Mirandola ( MO )

She used the nickname Ninfa, does anyone know the reason for this nickname? i have never seen it before.

Ninfa is a female first name (Ninfo in the masculine) and is not a nickname. It is found typically in Sicily. It was derived from Greek (means nymph) and was the name of a 4th century saint. I can't explain why your aunt used Ninfa as a nickname.
