Traslation Please for Birth Record Margin

Postby oemorg » 12 Sep 2013, 23:06

Andrea Dorsa was born illegittimo to Mariangela Dorsa. Mariangela married Domenico Squillacci 8 Sep 1894. Does the margin indicate Andrea Dorsa changed his name to Andrea Squillacci when his mother got married?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg!

The handwriting makes it a bit confusing but I think...
it states that the child was "recognized" by Domenico Squillace, the son of deceased Vincenzo... possibly with publication(?) by a Notary, Giuseppe Diodata (?) on 4 March 189? making his surname and given name - Squillace Andrea...and this recognition can be found in parte II of the registers of birth... 21 March 1895.
I do not see the mention of the marriage here.

Tessa,

Thanks a lot for confirming that. My great grand aunt had 2 illegittimos before she got married. Andrea's brother, Cesare, has almost the same notation in the margin of his birth record. I will check if I have the FHL film for 1895 and see what else it says.

Greg
