I am preparing to write a request to the Comune di Riccia for the marriage record of our great aunt, Maria Antonia Ricci. I have linked a copy of her birth record below.
I have 2 questions: 1. Is the date written in the notation Mar 11th, 1922? 2. Can anyone transcribe the name below the date? I know that once I receive the official extract of the marriage record I will see the Husband's name, but my curiosity is getting the better of me!
1. don't assume that because they shared a surname they were related to each other.
2. in villages which were extremely small, and in which there therefore was a limitation concerning potential marriage partners, dispensations from Rome could be obtained to marry even first or second cousins. Normally though marriages between first, second, and third cousins were outlawed, as were marriages between first, second, or third cousins of a deceased spouse.
I learned long ago not to assume anything when it comes to genealogy. I was just curious about the law that was in place at the time. Thanks for the info on dispensations. Once I get the marriage record, the groom's parentage should be clear.
