Help with translation

Postby bottino » 10 Nov 2013, 21:41

We are looking at some census records, and at the end of each name is either a C. or just a C
Someone has said that they stand for, "Segno degli ammessi alla comunione" and
"Segno degli ammessi alla comunione?"
What are the translations of these two phrases, and what do they mean in the catholic religion.
Thanks
Paul

Correction, what I was calling a C. is actually a Cr.

Can someone help with this record above. What do the Cr and C mean, and particularly What religious significance do they have.
Thanks

Apparently C indicates that the person had his 1st Communion and Cr that the person was Confirmed (Cresimato)

Thanks Livo. Do you know at what age the first communion might occur.

Nowadays 10-12 but I'm not sure if this was true in the late 1700s
