The word looks like "Finanziere" which translates to "Financier".

Hopefully someone else might be able to expand a little more about the duties of a "Finanziere" in the Italian military for you.

Livio: I actually tried to find out a little more about what duties a Finanziere in the Regular Army would have performed in the early 1900s but because the Police Department and Military are so closely linked and there have been a few changes over time couldn't really get any clarity of thought on this one. Thank you.
