Tribunale change Stefano Iovino???

Postby lilbees » 30 Mar 2014, 03:45

Can someone tell me about the document. It looks like a name change but I am not sure.

Would really appreciate it. This was found in birth records for 1886 record pt. 2-4

Thank you

It looks to me to be a correction of the father's name from Salvatore to Santi...

Hope someone else will also take a look :-)

I could certainly use a little more detail than just the name if someone can take another look at this record.

Thanks,

This is the birth record from 1862-number 101 which is referred to in the 1886 record you found. As you can see, the father's name on the original record (birth took place on March 1, 1862) was written as Salvatore and not Santi. In 1886, the court corrected the error made on this 1862 record and indicated that the father's first name should have been Santi and not Salvatore. What is interesting though is that, on page 2 of the original record, the father's signature appears as Salvatore. The witnesses were illiterate and did not sign the record, but the father did.

I'm glad finding the original record clarified everything for you.
