Birth Record Translation: Bernardina Terranova

Postby JOHN08 » 30 Mar 2014, 07:31

My translation of this birth record:

On the 7th of July 1897 ?, appeared Serafina Pucciano, age 30 ?, peasant farmer, living in Acri, declared the birth of Bernardina Terranova on the 4th of July 1897. Bernardina was born of Angelina Pucciano, wife of Antonio Terranova, living in Acri.

What is the translation of the notation at the bottom section of this birth record which is referencing Angelina Pucciano ?

Appreciate any input.

John

The image is too blurred (and cannot be zoomed) to be sure 10% but your translation looks correct.
The notation on the bottom section should explain why the declarant was not the father.

From what I can read from the enlargement...

The declarant (Serafina) made the presentation because she assisted in the birth by Angelina Pucciano, and took the place of the husband [of Angelina] who was in America.
