Year on marriage record

Postby jkingb » 05 Apr 2014, 00:37

I am hoping somebody can help clarify the year on the following record - not the year of marriage but the year (words, written out) mentioned shortly after (and possibly in reference to) the mother of the groom, Maria Barbero. Is this the year of her death? 1795? I am not sure I am reading it correctly, or even that the reference is to her in the first place..

Thanks for any help!

I am reading Jan 24, 1785 as the date of Maria's death.

Thanks. I originally thought it might read "quatre vingt quinze" , which would translate to 80 + 15 = 95. Is that definitely not the case? I probably read it incorrectly, but want to be sure. The "vingt" in this case looks as little like "cinq" if you read quickly.. But then there would be a "vingt" missing from the phrase.

It is the 24th of January, correct? No other information about her or her death, I am assuming (I don't speak French)..

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it.

I think you are right. The year of the mother's death is 1795 and not 1785. Jan 24th for the day is correct. I don't see any other info in the record about the mother.
