Sorry, Dolores I'm not sure about Mariangela's surname in the first record. I'll come back if I work it out. (My excuse is that I'm not wearing my super specs. :) )

The surname should be Pascucci.

Incidentally Dolores, I noticed that the father has signed his name Raffaele Martone yet in the record his name is recorded as "Martone Angelo Raffaele" so I guess they may have reversed the order of Christian names in the record or maybe he was known as Raffaele Martone and so signed accordingly? Not sure about this one.

A question re name reversal came up recently on the following thread:
http://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/language/30687

Right at the end of the topic Pippo made the following comments which I found very interesting and helpful at the time:

"The order can be reversed, in the sense that up to about 1900, use was more important than the documents themselves. So it might happen that someone was given name at birth, for instance, Tizio Caio, but his family called him Caio; in later documents, you might find him referenced to as Caio, or even Caio Tizio, to keep track of the original name. This is quite common above all with female names formed by Maria followed by another name (Maria Rosaria, Maria Teresa)."

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, Angela. That certainly helps, especially the info about the given names as I run into that lot!
