These are annual indexes normally found at the end, or sometimes at the beginning, of a particular year of one type of civil record. So the annual index may be at the end of the 1897 birth records in a town, for example, or at the beginning of that year's birth records. If the town has an extremely large number of birth records for a given year, then the index may be found somewhere in the middle. This type of index exists for all civil records (birth, marriage, death) but in some towns is not found for every year. Some towns also have Indice Decennale -ten year indexes.
