Latin Translation Please

Postby oemorg » 05 Jun 2014, 21:17

Luigi Pugliese was born in 1790, could be December 18th. His parents were Giuseppe and Domenica Civale. Please correct the date if wrong and let me know who the other names are on the record. Giuseppe's parents' names are Daniele and Teresa Oliveto and it looks like there is something similar written there.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

Here is what I see...
Your date of 18 December 1790 is correct.
PARENTS are Giuseppe (Joseph) Pugliese, son of Daniele and of Teresina Oliveto;
AND Domenica Civale, daughter of Giuseppe (Joseph) and of Rosa Bonaf???
The child was given the name Aloysius (Luigi)
Godparents were Giuseppe Marco (Joseph) and Angela Romeo
I believe the priest who baptized was D. Domenico Galicchio

Tessa,
It is probably Rosa Bonafine, which is a common surname in the town. All 4 grandparents on a birth record. It doesn't get any better than that. Thanks so much for your help!

Yes, Bonafine is what I saw, but did not have time to check out the surname.
Glad to have helped, and you definitely hit the jackpot with all 4 grandparents' names.
