Birth record - Emilio Antonio Moglione

Postby aliandmog » 31 Oct 2014, 13:17

After many years of searching I have finally had a breakthrough in tracing a birth record for my wife's great grandfather Emilio Antonio Moglione b.1873 in San Pier d'Arena. I think I have found his birth record(attached) but due to the handwriting and language I am unable to understand the full content. I believe his father's is Emilio Nicholas and his mother is Dominica Derchi. I would be extremely grateful if someone could help translate the record or point me in the right direction to get it fully translated. Kind Regards - Andrew McDiarmid

Dear Guys, I can't thank you both enough for helping ! Translating this information has solved my familiies italian mystery and brought my Great Grandfather to reality. My arm of the family have been trying to find out what happened to Emilio Antonio for years since he returned to Italy in approx 1916 and this feels like the first major breakthrough in our quest to find our italian roots.
Thank you so much Alison Moglione :-)

I understand that he he returned to Genoa, with a view to his English family following him. The story passed down that he died before they went out there and also that his wife Mary Ann was reluctant to go, so we don't know what happened and have no proof yet of when he died. We know he had links to the Port and worked as a Ship's Passenger Agent when he lived in Liverpool. He had about 6 children in the Uk the youngest if which was my grandad Gerald.
We will keep searching for information of what happened to him and about his italian family to fill in the missing blanks. Thanks for your interest and help Alison

There is a website that may contain information about Emilio Antonio Moglione in the http://www.anglo-italianfhs.org.uk. It seems to be a paying website with a fee of 6 pounds for internet access The thought does occur to me that on or about 1916 he would have been 43 years of age and WW1 was well underway. Is it possible he may have joined or been drafted by the Italian Military? Peter
